NeuraFutures Exhibit

Visitor & User Research. Academic Research. Exhibit Design.

Tools: Figma. Qualtrics. SPSS. Sketch. Google Workplace. Research Databases.

Project Overview
NeuraFutures is an exhibit teaching visitors about Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs) through artifacts in both science fiction and real-life. We are currently revamping/redesigning the exhibit to include a makerspace where visitors can prototype their own BCIs. Additionally, we are iterating the website and prop cards to have a better UI and UX.
Obstacle
Problem: Low budget for exhibit movement to new exhibition spaces and making iterations on current exhibit design and research

Resolution: Partnering with museums and writing grants for project funding. In the meantime, we are performing research using paper versions and lower fidelity versions of the exhibit in New York as the actual artifacts are currently on display in Boston.

Research Responsibilities
  • Grant-writing for research on how the exhibit impacts visitor conceptions understanding, interest, and self-efficacy on Brain-Computer Interfaces
  • Performing literature review on the current sate of Brain-Computer Interfaces (research, ethics, and products).
  • Creating and implementing survey and items for visitor research, user research, and academic research on how exhibit curation, flow, and engagement affects visitors' mental models on BCIs and STEM concepts
  • SPSS analysis, data visualization, and insight generation from Qualtrics survey data
Design Responsibilities
  • Rapid prototyping of information display to gain immediate visitor feedback on exhibit design
  • Designing new prop cards and website interface
  • Changing exhibit design according to research insights
  • Designing Makerspace for interactive
  • Applying to interactive media and arts festivals by creating and submitting proposals
  • Contacting museums and public spaces for partnership and hosting
  • Creating budget plan for grant proposals
