Project Overview
An Art + AI workshop, of which I am the research lead on character designs, for middle school students and hosted by the MIT Media Lab and MIT's RAISE (Responsible AI for Social Empowerment and Education). We studied students' uses of AI for their art-making and shifts in perceptions of AI.
Obstacles
Problem: Determining how best to analyze the qualitative data collected from the study.

Resolution: Conducting a literature review, reviewing the research questions, and the type of data collected for best thematic analysis.
Research Responsibilities
  • Leading research on student character designs with AI
  • Creating measures and survey items based on literature
  • Designing qualitative analysis and coding scheme for art creations and processes
  • Identifying personas from emergent insights and creating art + ai workflow framework
  • Disseminating research findings and reporting findings to stakeholders
Design Responsibilities
  • Designing learning experiences for interactive character design workshop
  • Ideating on different modes of art creation students can use to help them create art (like using clay and drawings) for later implementation as AI inputs
  • Designing visualizations of data in Figma for research presentation
